6 die in stampede at immigration employment test venues yesterday

A  total of 6 applicants have been reported dead from the different venues of the  Nigerian Immigration Service employment test held yesterday across the country. The Nigerian Immigration Service decided to conduct a test to fill 3,000 vacant positions in the country and the number of Nigerian Youths that went to the various test locations was overwhelming. Below is a collage of the crowd at the respective venues of the Immigration Service Test carried out in stadia across the country. The Abuja stadium which is to sit not more than 60,000 people had well over 80,000 youths and only one entrance to the stadium was opened for the applicants. It's being reported that at least six people died during a stampede at some of the venues of the poorly coordinated test. The dead are mostly from the Abuja venue, including a pregnant woman. The alarming part is that these applicants paid N1,000 registration fee and there were over 2 million applicants...by calculation, that's about N2bi

The Yobe Massacre: Time is running out for Nigeria

By Adegbenro Adebanjo The horrendous and barbaric killing of over 40 innocent students of the Federal Government College, Buni Yadi, Yobe State by the Boko Haram Sect is proof positive that Nigeria is in clear and present danger. That killing has further diminished us as a people. It tells the rest of the World that the worst form of bestiality still takes place in Nigeria of 2014. It is sickening not just because of the number of children killed but also because of the sheer mindlessness and crude manner those kids were summarily executed. There is no justification whatsoever for the murder of those innocent souls. It is pure savagery. Those who planned and carried the crime out are mindless butchers and anyone who supports them one way or the other or who provides any justification for the gruesome act or tries to reap political capital out of this evil is vicariously liable and stands condemned too. It should be clear to all of us that our country is dancing on the precipice. Thi
