Ondo State House of Assembly Speaker dies

The Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Mr Samuel Adesina is dead. Adesina died on Monday night at an undisclosed hospital, Lagos after a protracted battle with urinary bladder cancer.

His absence from the House of Assembly has been a source of worry for over three months. It was previously reported that Adesina could no longer perform his duties as he was moving about seeking medical attention.

Adesina is the first Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly to have spent three years in that position without being impeached. He is also the first legislator voted three consecutive times by his people to represent them in the State Assembly.

He was a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) before he decamped to the Labour Party (LP) on April 8, 2010 to pave way for his emergence as Speaker of the House of Assembly.
