This is so not a tale o ...

OK.  So am cooking in my kitchen and a call comes through.  Turns out to be someone who wants to talk.  I go, OK.. .shoot. and she goes " we used to be first loves 17 years ago and we saw last 14 years ago.  We we very close,  so close that the estate knew us at the time. We were only 14 years old as he is just 37 days my senior but he was ahead by two classes and was more exposed than myself.  We would share a sweet at that time as though another couldn't be purchased. My parents knew and loved him as my brother cos they never got wind of what we shared so he moved in and out of our house freely.  He was so nice and would do just about anything for me so long as I was happy. He had this younger brother that never really believed in us so he mocked us at the slightest opportunity he got yet we weren't discouraged.  Meanwhile I also had this younger sister that would go any length to get my messages across, she believed totally in us. It was so strong that our parents would have been indebted if telephone calls were charged at the current rates cos we made calls unend, such that the land lines installed by the estate authority had to be interrupted from the operator's office  while we spoke to ask us off the phone for our parents to leave us messages and it check up on us. We had special songs we sang,  recorded and danced to like #Chaka Demus' bam bam song and I need you (can't remember the artist now). He never asked for sex. That made me very comfortable around him until I started nursing the notion  and got scared that it might one day come to that. Irrespective, We were best of friends. So 17 years after I walked out on him out of the fear of him one day wanting to satisfy his  manly urges, he calls me to wish me happy birthday and my current "troubles" begin. Lol. Soon as we set eyes on each other the spark from the years gone return.  We start catching up and picking from where we left off and getting to know each other afresh. We soon hook up,  if you know what I mean. Now I think I might be pregnant." Heeeeeeeeeeey, Hold on,  she continues, "don't be happy for me. He was engaged before  we found each other again. Oh now you see my dilemma? What then is my fate? Does he love me enough to call off his engagement? Was I just used? Am lost for words. Can't stop wondering how I got into this mess, as it were ". Hmmmmmm!  OK now, this is a huge one o, I said to her.  For real,  I don't even have an idea of what advise to give. Please leave comments and let's save a situation. Thanks

  2. Pregnant ke? She had better tell him before it's too late, and how serious is his engagement for him to have gone intimate with his ex, no wonder they say "the power of the ex ", it's usually very strong and must be avoided like a plague if you dnt want to be caught up in its wahala, she would be ok sha.

JOURNAL OF A JOURNALIST NEXT DOOR ... September 27th, 2024... Calm before the Storm!

Friday was one of those rare, calm days in my world of Corporate Communications. It’s not often that I get a day with fewer meetings, but when it happens, I know it’s the perfect opportunity to catch up on all the news stories waiting to be polished and published. With the university’s biggest event just around the corner, this quiet felt like the calm before the storm. The first half of the day was spent at my desk, immersed in edits. It’s funny how even on a less busy day, the work piles up in different forms. A colleague sent over a draft press release that needed sharpening, while another forwarded an article that just didn’t have the right tone yet. The joy, though, is in refining those pieces—finding the right words that will capture the essence of the university's achievements. As the minutes rolled by, I ticked off one task after another, sipping soda and enjoying the steady hum of a day. In the back of my mind, I knew this won’t last long—the preparations for the upcomi...
